Our Story

We are Alan and Alison Doo, and have recently moved to Bangor to plant Gwynedd Vineyard, part of the Vineyard movement of churches in the UK and Ireland.

For Alison, who grew up in North Wales and has longed for many years to return, this is a homecoming. For Alan, who was born and grew up in southwest Cornwall, this is an adventure in discovering another area showcasing God’s amazing creativity. Alison has been learning Welsh, the beautiful language of her ancestors (both sets of grandparents were first language Welsh speakers) for a number of years, and Alan has recently started learning.

Over the years we have served and led in various churches in London, Chicago – where we lived for 18 years - and Chester. Alison was on staff at Evanston Vineyard Church in the suburbs of Chicago and has been an assistant pastor at Vineyard 53 in Chester for five years. Alan has recently ended a career working in IT and is now studying theology.

For over 15 years we have felt a strong pull from God to move back to North Wales to start a Vineyard Church. In 2014 we moved back to the UK to serve in a church here before heading into Wales, and Chester has been the perfect place to do this.

We have been constantly waiting for when God would confirm the timing for our move across the border. During 2023 God made it so clear to us, and to others, that now is the time to make our home in Bangor and to love and serve the community here.

We have four adult children and five grandchildren who still live in the States.
